Navigating the Digital Age: Essential News and Media Skills

Tue. October 15, 2024 | 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm CDT

As our attention turns toward the upcoming election and current events, it is essential for students to develop critical thinking skills that empower them to evaluate online information accurately.

Join Jennifer Ehehalt, Sr. Education Manager at Common Sense Education, to learn practical strategies for using videos, quick activities, and dilemma discussions that build students’ essential news and media literacy skills while cultivating a classroom of civil discourse.

Along the way, we’ll explore the key principles of digital ethics (respect, responsibility, honesty, empathy) and how to empower students to be critical thinkers, with assistance from ready-to-go resources and lesson collections.

Illinois educators who register here and attend live through Streamyard can earn 1.0 PD credit.
