Google Certified Educator Level 1 Prep Workshop ROE 35

Eager to harness the full potential of Google’s educational tools and add a recognized credential to your CV?

Register for this workshop, which will prepare you to take the Google Educator Level 1 certification exam. Over the course of this training, you’ll learn about the skills and knowledge needed to pass at an incremental pace, allowing you plenty of time to fully understand each before moving on to the next. Even if you don’t end up taking the certification exam, this workshop is an excellent way to fill any gaps in your knowledge of Google tools, develop your technology integration skillset, and build your confidence as an educator of 21st-century learners.

Level 1 certification indicates a fundamental understanding of using Google Tools in the classroom and confirms standard technology implementation skills. Educators who pass the certification test will be able to advertise their status with a personalized certificate and badge. Certification lasts 36 months.

This workshop is designed for teachers that have basic experience using Google tools in their classroom. It is not a beginners course or an introduction to Google Workspace for Education.

Participants should bring a Chromebook or laptop with access to a Google for Education account to the workshop.

Over the course of this workshop, participants will learn about: Digital Citizenship, Utilizing Google Drive with efficiency, Creating, sharing, and collaborating with Google Docs, Creating, Formatting, and Analyzing Data with Google Sheets, Developing and Using Google Forms for Quizzes and Data Collection, Design and Edit Google Slides. Set up and Operate Google Classroom, Personalizing your Gmail Account, Leveraging Google Chat & Meet, Manage your Google Calendar, Tasks, and Google Keep, Create a Google Site, and Develop YouTube Channels and Playlists.

Ben Sondgeroth

Ben Sondgeroth, Regional Educational Technology Coordinator. Ben began his career as a history teacher in Morrison, IL where he initiated and coordinated the district’s iPad pilot program, redesigning the curriculum to effectively integrate the new technology. During this time, he developed a passion for sharing with other teachers exciting new ways to use technology in education.

That passion led Ben to be a national Instructor and presenter, allowing him to work with thousands of educators every year across the country. Now working for the Illinois Learning Technology Center, his focus is on helping schools and districts in Illinois leverage digital learning effectively. He has presented at regional and national conferences such as FETC, ISTE, ICE, and many more. He holds a Master’s Degree in Curriculum Technology Education Reform (University of Illinois) and a Bachelor’s Degree in History Education (University of Indianapolis).
