Connecting With Students: Using Google Meet for Remote Learning

Event Description

As teachers begin preparing for the upcoming school year, one thing is certain. The need to connect with students virtually is crucial. Google Meet is a videoconferencing tool in G Suite that can be utilized to help connect teachers and their students in a remote learning environment. During this webinar, we’ll discuss tips and tricks for using Google Meet with students in a safe, secure, and manageable environment. We’ll also highlight some best practices for teaching in a remote learning setting.

 

Introduction to Google Meet

Event Description

Learn about Google Meet and the ins and outs of using it with your students. Also, learn about many extensions that are available for Google Meet. Time will be given for participants to record a Google Meet.

Introduction to Google Forms, Meet and Classroom

Event Description

In this workshop, participants will explore the basic functions and features of Google Classroom and learn how to assign class material and activities. Participants will also learn features available to hold a Google Meet with students and learn about the ins and out of Google Forms and how they can turn it into a quiz. If you have access to two devices that may help you during the workshop, but it is not necessary.

Presenter Bio

Lisa Schwartz, Regional Educational Technology Coordinator. Lisa facilitates professional learning events regionally, provides consultation and support to school districts related to digital learning, technology integration, and develops instructional materials for educators throughout the central Illinois region. Prior to joining the LTC, Lisa was an educator for 19 years in the Quincy Public School district. She is currently serving as the Western Illinois Computing Educator Chapter President and served on the Illinois Computing Educators governing board of directors.
