Rethinking PD During Challenging Times

During times of change or challenge, how can you adjust the professional development model to support teachers and continue to support strategic growth?

In our large suburban district, we continually refined our approach to professional development this year to not only meet state, county, and district health standards, but also to respond to teacher fatigue. Using feedback from district staff, providing structured time to review feedback, and organizing through a collaborative model, our district was able to pivot and provide more meaningful learning for our staff.

Learning Objectives

In this session, participants will:

  • Consider alternative PD opportunities for staff (on-demand, virtual, team-based)
  • Explore staff feedback tools and reflection protocols
  • Discuss a journey towards staff collective efficacy, increasing collaboration in creation of district professional development
  • Tools to engage adults in a virtual PD environment
