Cisco’s website defines cybersecurity “as the practice of protecting systems, networks, and programs from digital attacks”. The U.S. Government spent nearly $18 billion on cybersecurity products and services in 2020. Cyberseek.org states nearly a half-million jobs are currently open within the cybersecurity field. To decrease the cybersecurity workforce gap, we need to build awareness and interest in cybersecurity careers from a young age. In this session, the presenter will discuss the basics of cybersecurity, what teachers and administrators need to know, what students need to know as well as implementation strategies, cybersecurity activities and possible curriculums. Teachers will leave the session with a list of tools, activities and resources to learn more and bring knowledge of cybersecurity into our schools and classrooms.
