Cybersecurity staff and fighter pilots speak of an OODA loop – Observe Orient Decide Act. This is an ongoing process of focusing on a problem, develop a way to mitigate the problem, then implement the plan. The ongoing security process begins with figuring out what you need to protect. Not everything is worthy of protection but somethings must be protected. We will look at how to distinguishing the gold from the paper clips then consider strategies similar to the militaries’ SIPR/NIPR model.
