Drones for Creativity and Computer Science

Tue. April 16, 2024 | 8:30 am - 3:00 pm CDT

Discover what it takes to bring drones into the classroom as a part of this hands-on workshop. To begin, we’ll take to the skies as you learn to fly a drone manually as well as autonomously (via coding). You’ll then explore activities, curriculum, and tips for getting your students started on their first drone adventures.

Along the way, you will learn drone terminology, career opportunities, safety issues, legal concerns, operational requirements, and purchasing options. We’ll also demonstrate how 3D design and multimedia projects can integrate with drone use to address the “A” in STEAM programs and infuse more creativity into your classroom.

Most importantly, you will walk out with the drone you’ve been learning with all day so you can continue the learning at home or school.

Participants must bring a laptop or Chromebook, as well as a cell phone or tablet, to fully take part in this workshop.
