Drones in the Curriculum

October 4, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Drone technology offers many learning opportunities for students and opens possibilities for real-world applications and future careers. This session gives an introduction to drone terminology, safety needs, legal concerns, requirements, restrictions, sources, and pricing. We will explore a relatively low-cost way of starting a drone program at your school to stimulate student interest and involvement.

The first part of the workshop will focus on manual operation of unmanned aerial systems (UAS), involving unboxing your own drone and examining the procedure for getting it ready for its first flight.

As part of a deeper look into curriculum integration, we will then examine a curriculum that is aligned with Illinois State Standards as well as ISTE Standards. Participants will receive access to all drone curriculum materials as well as other sources for drone technology integration ideas.

As part of the registration fee, each participant will receive a new manually operated drone with all equipment needed for its first flight.
